Lifeguard Training
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

This class is 30 hours in length, and will certify you in Red Cross Lifeguard Training, a CPR Professional Rescuer and Community First Aid. You must be 15 years old to attend the lifeguard class. After receiving your certification you are eligible to apply for any life guarding position.


To receive your certification, students must pass written and water tests and MUST attend all classes! Fees include a lifeguard training book, pocket mask, American Red Cross fees, and instructor cost. It is mandatory you attend ALL classes to become certified.

All classes are held at the Litchfield Park Recreation Center Pool, 100 S. Old Litchfield Rd., Litchfield Park, AZ  85340. This class may be offered in May, June, July, August or September. If classes are being offered the program details are published online. If WSI classes are not published then the program is not being offered.

Guard Start

This is an introduction to Life guarding skills without certification. Students must be able to swim front crawl for 25 yards continuously, tread water for one minute and swim a distance of ten feet under water.


This class is for 11 to 14-years old and is usually taught as part of our summer class program. Program details are published online.  Type "lifeguard" into the search box to find our Guard Start classes. If classes are not published then the program is not being offered.
