Swimming Lessons

Litchfield Park offers a variety of swim lessons for both youth and adults. We offer a group format as well as private lessons. All swim classes and lessons are held every year mid-April  through Labor Day. To learn more about these lessons call (623) 935-9040. Program details are published online.

Parent Tot Swim Lessons
These 4-day parent-child interaction water acclamation classes are designed to give a parent guidance on teaching their child good swimming skills. Parents will learn holding positions, kicking skills and how to encourage good body positions. Discussion of repetitious commands used for safety training will be taught. A swim diaper must be used by tots. Ages 6 months to 3 years of age. Register online!

Youth Swimming Lessons
All group lessons are held for two weeks meeting 30 minutes per day for four days each week for a total of eight 30-minute sessions. Register online!

Level 1—Bubblers
Intended for children who have had little or no experience in the water. Focus on water exploration, floating on front and back with assistance, blowing bubbles, retrieving objects underwater. Ages 3 to 6.

Level 2Puffers
Become comfortable underwater. Develop streamline body position, effective kicking, introduction to freestyle arm stroke, floating on back, and introduction of rhythmic breathing. Ages 3 to 6.

Level 3Floaters
Gain independence in the water and coordination of forward motion. Perfect the streamline position, learn to inhale and exhale while making forward progress. Ages 4 to 8.

Level 4—Water Exploration
Intended for children who have little to no experience in the water. Develop independence and comfort in the water. Ages 7 to 13.

Level 5—Strokers
Intended for children with experience in the water.Develop endurance and improve technique. New skills introduced are elementary backstroke, backstroke, and diving. Ages 4 to 10.

Level 6—Swimmers
Intended for experienced swimmers. Continue stroke development and build endurance. Skills taught are butterfly, kick, breaststroke, and treading water. Ages 7 to 14. 

Level 7—Racers
Focus on stroke mechanics for freestyle, backstroke, breastroke, and butterfly while building endurance. Ages 7 to 14.

Private Lessons

These lessons are for those who desire one-on-one instruction to learn how to swim, improve your strokes, improve your comfort level or learn new strokes. Private lessons are subject to the availability of an instructor. Appointments are made by contacting the Pool Manager at 623-935-9040.

Adult Swimming Lessons
